Mission District
Visit this San Francisco neighborhood brimming with culture, history, a lively art scene, buzzing nightlife and some of the city’s best burritos.

From its global dining scene to San Francisco’s oldest structure, with dynamic live music venues and the city’s oldest theater, the Mission District enticingly blends old and new. Find the small, adobe Mission Delores, dedicated in 1791 and still active today. Switch eras with a stop at The Chapel, once a mortuary and today a renowned concert venue. Visit the Mission District to experience an authentic slice of life by the bay, from Valencia Street’s boutiques to Dolores Park’s wide lawns.

If you’re an art lover, head to Clarion and Balmy alleys, where ever-changing murals have reflected the pulse of the community since the 1970s. Tour the murals with Precita Eyes Murals, a community-based arts organization. Visit the many galleries in the neighborhood, including the Juan R. Fuentes Art Gallery and the City Art Cooperative Gallery, with rotating pieces by local member-artists.

Attend a live performance at the Victoria Theatre or the community-run Roxie, San Francisco’s oldest operating theater. Catch a one-person show at The Marsh or listen to a lecture on an offbeat topic at one of Odd Salon’s events. For the most energetic live entertainment of the year, visit during Carnaval, a celebration of the neighborhood’s Latinx heritage.

Satisfy your hunger with the Mission District’s famous tacos and burritos and eclectic global foods, from Korean to Caribbean. Find excellent choices along Valencia Street and 24th Street. Some of the best Mexican restaurants, as reviewed by locals and visitors alike, are along Mission Street.

Stay up late to experience the Mission’s popular nightlife. Wherever you turn, upscale lounges, dive bars and dance clubs are open until early morning hours. Have a meal at the indoor-outdoor restaurant at The Chapel, a 1914 arched structure that’s a city favorite for live music.

Travel to the Mission District by BART or the Muni train. The neighborhood is served by several city buses as well. Come feel the heartbeat of the lively Mission, with its pleasing mix of culture, cuisine and entertainment.

San Francisco is famous for many things, the golden gate bridge, great food, diversity, however it's most famous for unique architecture , especially Victorian style and bold colors. Sometime's I just enjoy taking a walk through neighborhoods with my camera and phone and often I get surprises such as this vibrant turquoise house. From the tile steps to the bold floral landscape this one definitely stood out.
